I have led the Montana National Guard for the past eight years, which coupled with my former corporate executive leadership experience provide the skills necessary to continue to lead the Department of Military Affairs and the Montana National Guard as a key part of Governor Gianforte's administration. The job requirements of maintaining an effective National Guard, responsive to the citizens of Montana and the nation, remain critical in todays domestic and foreign environments. I am an empathetic leader but one who believes in holding Soldiers, Airmen, employees, and most importantly myself responsible to do the right thing while giving them the tools and freedom necessary to succeed. I have grown the exposure of the Montana National Guard through frequent community interactions that demonstrate the value of our Citizen Soldiers/Airmen as well our DMA organizations, to include Montana Youth ChalleNGe, STARBASE, Disaster and Emergency Services, and Veterans Affairs. I would bring this same successful leadership style, focus, and drive to Governor Gianforte's administration.
