I serve as Assistant to the DOC Cashier for the prison systems of the entire state of Colorado by receiving, auditing, recording and reporting all payments made to CDOC in accordance with the State of Colorado Fiscal Rules, Colorado Revised Statutes, and CDOC Regulations and accepted accounting practices to ensure internal control. Determine appropriate accounts to deposit all payments issued to DOC, coding, and verify mathematical accuracy of all deposits, preparing daily balance reports and providing all supporting documentation to the appropriate departments, taking all deposits to the bank, answering inquiries, and reviewing inmate accounts. I verify eligibility of the $100 release allowance, by analyzing and interpreting AR 200-01, Monetary Consideration for Departure, and CRS 17-22.5-202, before administering checks and debit cards for departing offenders at all facilities statewide. I work directly with case managers, parole officers, and other agencies to ensure offenders receive all credits, remaining funds, IDs, Social Security cards, birth certificates, and Medicaid cards when applicable, as well as issuing Greyhound bus transportation vouchers. Issue sales tax checks, as well as other checks requested by Payroll, Accounts Payable, General Accounting, and facility business managers. Prepare and audit daily reports for Inmate Bank and General Accounting, generate month end reports, and reconcile Warden's Revolving Account. The position is extremely busy and requires excellent organization skills, effective time management and the ability to multi-task, all while providing exceptional customer service by communicating accurately, effectively, and politely with co-workers, inmates, parolees, inmate family members and other agency representatives.
