I'm Meghan Craft, from Pitt County, NC. I have taught over 13 years, mainly grades 6-10th. Math is my forte and love. I pride myself in helping students understand the reasoning behind math. Most students struggle because they are given steps to follow, but never understanding of why these steps work. I believe that's the reason most students do not like math.
Another thing I take very seriously is PBIS. Positive behavior yields positive behavior back to me, respect of both parties, and growth and proficiency. Getting to know my students individually and learning their style of learning is crucial in order for them to succeed.
The last thing that I feel makes me stand out is willingness to learn our new generations era. That era is technology. I have butted heads (figuratively speaking of course), with many teachers and administrators on incorporating student's electronics into the classroom and their learning. If you put their electronics and PBIS into the agenda, I have found I rarely have discipline issues. Halfway through the class, is students have been on task, they receive a "TechCheck". A "TechCheck" is where students get 3-10 minutes to get their phones/electronics out and have a break.
I love teaching and I can't wait to join your program!
