Accomplishments
  • Owned and operated a successful hair salon for 11 1/2 years. During those years I provided work for 9 other stylists, 5 of which were with me from the beginning.
  • Additionally, I can add that I was successful at raising 3 children, mostly on my own, with the two eldest having grown into healthy, successful and productive adults with their own families and the youngest in high school, graduating in 2014.

  • As salon owner: coordinated monthly staff meetings discussing new products, stylists interrelations, problem solving and brain storming for new ways to conduct and better promote our businesses. I personally accomplished all monthly accounting, inventory, tax reports, and paying all bills. I insured the salon was in working order and was always clean, appealing, inviting and always ready for business.
  • As a stylist: excellent customer service was imperative; that is what fueled and generated my business' success.Used my computer for scheduling appointments, tracking inventory, purchase orders and receivables, and for appointment email reminders. Completed monthly reports, of my work behind my chair and products sold. I ordered all of my back bar products, and provided retail products for the entire salon. Was able to multi-task between client services, phone calls, scheduling and was constantly and consistently able to juggle priorities throughout each day.

The cosmetology training offered at Santa Rosa Beauty College was a one year program. I attended the school 6 days a week, completing my training in 9 months. I took my first state boards in San Francisco, CA receiving my first license (one out of three state licenses obtained) in January, 1972.

Attended many classes at the annual Seattle Hair Show, as well as continual coloring and cutting classes in Wenatchee and Moses Lake in Washington state.

1988 - 1990 Completed all prerequisites required for the X-ray Tech Program. Was accepted into the X-ray Tech program as an intern. I chose not to complete the program due to extenuating family matters.

Traveled from Washington state to Tucson, AZ to train in the art of permanent cosmetics application. Received my Softap certification upon completing the intensive 6 day course.
