The Three Most Common Cover Letter Mistakes:
#1 — Not addressing letter to a named individual.
Letters addressed to job titles (“Dear Personnel Director”) are poorly received but even more disdained are those old chestnuts “Dear Sir or Madam” and “To whom it may concern.”
Job-seekers MUST make the effort (through research and network contacts) to uncover the name of the hiring manager.
