If you really think about all that you did at each place of work, it should not be a problem to come up with at least five things you did or accomplished.
Avoid phrases like Responsible for
You do not want a hiring manager to get bored while reading your resume, so an easy way to make your work history section more interesting to read is to begin every bullet point with a strong, exciting verb. You want to avoid phrases like Accountable for or Responsible for, which are boring ways to start a statement. As can be observed from the bullet point mentioned above, it does begin with Responsible for, so this needs to be fixed. We could rewrite it to go like this:
Include quantifiable information when applicable
You do not want your work experience to read just like a job description. An easy way to fix this would be to include specific information about what exactly you did. For example, instead of just saying that you oversaw all aspect of operations, you could say that you oversaw all aspects of operations and increased efficiency by 30%.
Remove personal information from your resume
The very bottom of this resume sample has a section titled Personal Information, and it includes information about the applicant’s personal life. This type of material is inappropriate to include on a resume and should be removed. There are certain items that could be moved to other areas if desired like the fact that he has been a member of the Kinston Rotary Club since 1994. However, information like how he has been married for 23 years and enjoys camping and hunting does not need to be added. You will have a chance to talk about your hobbies during the interview, but the resume should be where you put all your focus on prior experiences and current skills that make you qualified to work for the company.
