A summary statement should start out your document. This section should be 4-6 lines and should address an overview of your experience, two or three major skill sets, and some valuable personality traits/soft skills
Its a good idea to give potential employers an overview of the experience you will be bringing to the position. This is also a good place to showcase some specific skills and personality traits. It is okay to use sentence fragments in a summary, just keep everything else grammatically correct. EXAMPLE: Summary Dedicated maintenance technician with over 9 years of experience providing perfect quality inspections. Continues to hold a 100% pass rate for all QA inspections. Has trained numerous others in aircraft maintenance, including HAZMAT handling and emergency response. Seeks position of increased responsibility and merit.
All lists should be in bullet point format
When you organize your information into lists rather than paragraph form, your resume will be easier to read and have a more professional appearance. It is even better to have bullet points to start each item on the list. This will further enhance the appearance of the resume, as well as make it easier for a reader to refer back to each point throughout the document. You only need to end a bullet point with a period if it is in the Experience section.
Double and triple check to make sure that your grammar and spelling are correct
Grammatical errors can sometimes slip by the revision process, but they stand out like a sore thumb to new readers. Thats why it can be really helpful to have someone else review your resume in addition to your own revision process. Keeping your document free of grammar issues will really give it a sharp, professional appearance, and makes you sound like an intelligent candidate.
