A summary section should be 4-6 lines and should address an overview of your experience, two or three major skill sets, and some valuable personality traits/soft skills
Your summary can really give a strong impression to a potential employer. Dont sell yourself short, but rather take the time to talk up some of your most outstanding qualities. The Summary section in the sample can be expanded to include some valuable skills and personality traits, and to provide an overview of total experience. WRONG: Summary Experienced treasury professional with strong leadership and interpersonal skills who adds insight and value to an organization’s efficient working capital management and optimization. All lists should be in bullet point format
The accomplishments section in the sample is very impressive, but it is cluttered with overstuffed bullet points. It is also missing some important information, like which companies were impacted by the accomplishment described in in the bullet points. Keep things trim, organized, and relevant. WRONG: Accomplishments Treasury Skills
Think of statements in your resume as first-person sentences with the personal pronouns removed
It is important to write in present tense when describing current employment, but keep in mind that the correct format is to have the verb conjugated in first-person form. This format will give more of an imminent sense to the duties being described, giving you a stronger, more active appearance as opposed to a more passive version like the third-person form in which the sample is written. WRONG: Experience 11/1998 to Current Treasury Manager ProLiance Energy LLC ? Indianapolis, IN
RIGHT: Experience 11/1998 to Current Treasury Manager ProLiance Energy LLC ? Indianapolis, IN
