When you are crafting your resume, it is important that you present yourself in the right way while fulfilling what is expected by employers. Create a strong summary
To start your resume off, include a strong summary. This should be an overview of all your abilities that paints you in a good light right from the beginning. Keep in mind that this will be the first thing readers see, and it may be the as far as they get unless you hook them immediately. The summary in this resume is: Highly motivated accounting trainee, knowledge of business mathematics and statistics. Possessing excellent communication skills, listening, written and verbal, adept time management, detail oriented and results driven. This summary is very well written, but it is too short. The resume is a little on the short side as well, so there is plenty of room to expand this summary out. Your summary should be about four lines long. This gives the impression that there is a lot of information that you have to communicate.
Format the experience section
If the format of any part of your resume is wrong, employers will likely not even bother reading it. This is especially true of the experience section. Make sure that under each previously held position, you list five to eight bullet points that describe the abilities and skills that you gained. It is okay if a few positions do not have as many bullets, especially if you are listing many jobs, but you should prioritize the more recent positions. These bullets should be in past tense, with the exception of currently held jobs, and be free from personal pronouns such as I or we. This resume gets the experience section correct in this regard, but it fails to start some points with a strong action verb. The following are formatted correctly:
Only a couple bullets are incorrect, such as, Second highest producing loan officer in the state. A more important error to correct would be to have more points in the more recent jobs. If nothing else, a few bullets that are relevant could be moved from the older positions.
Add extra sections
If your resume is a little on the short side, as this one is, you may consider adding some extra sections. Always fill the page entirely. Any blank space looks very bad to employers. The most common optional section that writers add is an achievements or awards section after the skills. This would take the form of a short bulleted list, from three to five points, which includes specific examples of ways you have benefitted previously employers. Alternatively, you can add a section at the end that highlights volunteer work, exemplary education experiences, affiliations, licenses, or special training. In this case, the resume would have benefitted greatly from an achievements section right before going into work history.
