When writing your special education assistant resume, it’s helpful to use a sample resume as a building block. It allows you to see exactly what type of information to write and how to format it. Here are some things that you should change from this resume when it comes to making your own.
Create properly formatted bullet lists
With most of your resume, you will use bulleted lists. You will use them basically anywhere except the professional summary. In this sample resume, the applicant made a bullet list under the highlights section; however, the list has spaces between each highlight which makes them look sloppy and disconnected. Bullet lists shouldn’t include spaces between items. The experience section has a long list of items, but the items aren’t listed with bullet points and they have a space between each item as well. Here is how you can properly format each section for a cleaner and more professional look. Highlights

Use borders and white space to separate information
Your resume will look much cleaner if you have borders and white space separating the information. It allows your potential employers to glance at your resume and know exactly where the sections begin and end. While you don’t have to use borders, they make a resume look much nicer. For example, you can put a border over and under each title. When the section ends, have plenty of white space before the next title. Here is an example: Summary Dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional focused on building each student’s strength and confidence, as well as giving students firm guidelines, regularity and dependability to foster their social and academic growth. Widely skilled promoting quality education through constant support and dedication. Seeks a position within an established school district. Know the best place to put information
In this example resume, there is an accomplishments section below the highlights. Since the applicant is using a highlights section instead of skills section, the accomplishments can be moved under the highlights. There are only 8 highlights, so it could use a few more anyway. This sample resume is a great example of how a resume should look. Just be sure that you format it properly with bulleted lists that aren’t spaced apart. If your resume looks professional, your potential employers will be more likely to take it seriously.
