Writing a stellar resume can be the first step towards finding the job of your dreams. By referencing this Rite Aid Assistant Manager resume sample, you will have the expert guidance you need to do just that. When you use this sample as a blueprint, you can avoid making common resume mistakes.
Incorrect Summary Length
This summary starts off well, but is simply too short. An adequately written summary will consist of 4-6 lines, and show off your professional skills and abilities. Your summary is your first chance to make a big impression, but this resume does not do that. The applicant can extend this section by expounding upon her work history, and making a strong case for why a hiring manager should choose her over the other applicants.
Improper Work History Length
The applicant’s work history gets the point across, but it is too short, and fails to use the proper formatting technique. Instead of writing information in paragraph form, it should be organized using 5-8 bullets per position. A well-written work history will emphasize your responsibilities, how they were carried out, and their final outcome. This applicant includes none of that information here, which makes her seem unqualified. Wrong: Assistant Manager 05/2007 to 01/2009 Rite Aid Cerritos, CA
Lead Fill In Supervior 12/2006 to 05/2007 Macys West Downey, CA
Customer Service Manager, Deparntment Manager, Customer Service 09/2000 to 12/2006 Wal-Mart Cerritos,Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs Ca
Right: Assistant Manager 05/2007 to 01/2009 Rite Aid Cerritos, CA
Lead Fill-In Supervisor 12/2006 to 05/2007 Macys West Downey, CA
The right version uses better descriptions and correct spelling, but more information still needs to be added to the second position at Macys.
Separate Job Histories
The third job description contains enough information regarding three different roles. The applicant should describe the positions in Norwalk, Cerritos, and Santa Fe Springs separately. This section can get confusing, since the applicant held a different position at each job.
Create an Accomplishments Section
This applicant includes information in the education section that can be included in a separate accomplishments section. Information regarding her enrollment status can be kept, but the scholarship information needs to be moved. The applicant should also avoid using complete sentences in the education section.
