It can be incredibly helpful in your job hunt to read resumes that are similar to the type of work experience you have. Therefore, reading a revenue examiner resume sample is highly suggested if that is the line of work you want to get into. Summary should be at least four lines long
Your resume’s summary is the first thing a potential employer is going to read about you, so you want to make him or her excited to see what else you have to say on your resume. There is no need to include every single detail about your work experience, but you should be able to provide a concise overview of what talents and achievements you have earned throughout your career. This resume sample has a summary that is only two sentences long, so she should come up with a couple more lines in order to reach the desired length.
Present tense needs to be used with current positions
Good grammar should always be used regardless of the situation, but when you are trying to impress someone you have never met, it becomes even more important. This sample resume uses the past tense to describe her experience working at Alabama Department of Revenue even though it says she presently works there. Therefore, all the points should be rewritten, so all the verbs are in the present tense. Correcting that part would make it look like this:
Every job should have a minimum of five bullet points
You want to be as detailed as you possibly can on your resume because your job search is not the time to be humble and sell yourself short. You should include as many quantifiable details as you can, and you should add as many responsibilities and achievements you had at each position. Only two points are given for her time working at YMCA Birmingham even though she worked there from 2007 to the present. There has to be more she does at that job that she can talk about. Really think about each job thoroughly, so you are capable of talking about each one at length.
Exclude GPA from your resume if you have already graduated
If you are still a student or if you have just graduated within the last year, then you can probably get away with including your GPA, especially if it was particularly high. However, if it has been several years since you graduated, as is the case on this sample resume, then there is no reason to keep including it. Once you have been out of school for a while, a hiring manager is going to be more impressed with whatever work experiences you have gained as opposed to what grades you got in school. The reason why a current student could still put a high GPA is because he or she may not have many other experiences to speak of, so a good GPA is an asset. Something you could do if you did get good grades would be to put whether you earned magna cum laude or summa cum laude.
