That is why we have consulted with the experts to take a look at this real retail brand manager resume sample. Weve pointed out some common mistakes, so you can learn from them and write your own flawless resume.
There Should Be Three or More Accomplishments
The Accomplishments section of a resume is the perfect place to highlight some of your greatest professional achievements. However, in order to make a sufficient section, you should have at three accomplishments to list. In this resume sample, there is only one accomplishment listed. It would have been better to include that under the specific job in the experience section instead.
List Experience in a Bullet List
To make sure that your Experience section is easy to read and that all your points stand out clearly, it is best to use a bullet list instead of a paragraph. In this resume, we have this: Sales Representative June 1998 to July 1999The Monroe Evening News ? Monroe, MI Developed innovative product solutions grounded in clear understanding of customer needs.Maintained friendly and professional customer interactions.Shared product knowledge with customers while making personal recommendations. However, with a bullet list added, it looks much cleaner, like this: Sales Representative June 1998 to July 1999The Monroe Evening News ? Monroe, MI *Developed innovative product solutions grounded in clear understanding of customer needs *Maintained friendly and professional customer interactions *Shared product knowledge with customers while making personal recommendations
Keep Job Experience Lists Short but Packed With Strong Information
When you are talking about your job experience, dont make it sound like just a list of duties, which can read a lot like a help wanted ad. Talk about achievements, special recognition, contributions and responsibilities. Give information about anything you did that made you stand out as an employee. Remember your resume is your sales pitch. You want a hiring manager to know what a good employee you are and how hard you work. In addition, be as specific an possible. Avoid using generalizations that could apply to pretty much any job. Provide quantitative data when possible. Make sure that you have five to eight bullets that are a mix of duties, achievements and contributions. Also, make sure each bullet point starts with an action verb and that those verbs are not repetitive. You dont want every bullet to begin with the same word, and you want to avoid tired wording, like responsible for.
