You need to write a resume that is going to capture the attention of a prospective employer and will make him or her want to hire you even though you have never met. Never include an objective statement
Many people feel compelled to add an objective statement to their resume even though it is completely unnecessary. An objective basically just says that you are hoping to gain a position at this company you are applying to. The problem here is that an employer assumes you want to get a job at this company because you bothered to submit your resume in the first place. Having a sentence on your resume that says that is only taking up space that could be better used for something else. Instead, you want your resume to begin with a brief summary that contains information about your skills and personality traits.
Work Experience and Work History should be the same section
This sample resume has a section titled Work Experience, which contains information relevant to being a reserve firefighter. There is an additional section titled Work History about jobs that are not extremely relevant to that career path. There is no reason to have two sections dedicated to all the jobs you have ever held, so it would be best to simply combine both parts into a single section.
Use past tense if you have already quit the job
The way you talk about every position you have worked at is very important. You should write about jobs you held in the past in the past tense, and similarly, jobs you currently work at should be referred to in the present tense. We can see that he already quit his job at Fresno County Fire Protection District, but all the bullet points are written incorrectly. To fix this, we would want to rewrite everything to look like this:
High school education can generally be left out
The only time where it can actually be beneficial to include information about high school is if you are still a student. If you have graduated a while ago, then there is no real need to keep that information on your resume, especially if you attended college. An employer will assume you graduated from high school if you went to college later on. For this sample resume, it would be best to just leave that information out of the resume entirely.
