Include a summary
Summaries are a great way to showcase any skill sets or characteristics pertinent to the job that you want the reader to know right off the bat. Generally, the format for a summary is four to six lines long and written in concise fragments. The applicant has entitled this section Proflie, which comes across as a bit generic. His opening statement in this section is strong, but should be followed by at least three other points. This paragraph can be written in paragraph format. Here is an example of what the first section could look like: Aspiring QA tester offering a critical eye for functional testing in the video game industry. Experienced in MMOs, first-person and third-person shooters, RPGs, RTSs, MOBAs and various social media games across different systems and consoles. Working knowledge about the current trends available and being introduced into the gaming market. Notice how having an introductory in paragraph form can really grab the attention of your reader.
Arrange sections in a logical order
There is a general format to be followed in terms of the arrangement of sections in a resume. It goes as following: Contact Information, Summary, Areas of Expertise/Skills, Accomplishments, Professional Experience, Education, Professional Memberships and Affiliation, and Licenses and Affiliations. Of course, not all employers will be critical of deviation from this standard format; however, proper ordering can certainly work in your favor. Notice how the applicant has listed Professional Experience as the last section of the resume when this may be what the employer is most interested in. Maintaining logical ordering will give better flow to the resume.
Do not leave sections blank
Leaving sections blank can make your resume look incomplete. Under the Technical Skills section, the applicant has listed three skills, but has left the categories Experience, Total Years, and Last Used blank. These three categories are not necessary to the format, anyway, but the rule of not leaving sections empty is applicable throughout the resume.
Always use bullets for listing items
If you are listing items in a section (except for the summary section) be sure to use bullets. Your employer will most likely be reading through several other resumes, so you want to make sure that yours is as clear and organized as possible. Notice the difference in these two formats: WRONG: Skills Microsoft Office Working knowledge of the Internet Basic knowledge in writing bug reports RIGHT: Skills
