Inappropriate Summary Length
This summary does not do an adequate job of emphasizing the writers skills and work history. It should take up 4-6 lines, and give the reader an in-depth overview of the applicants professional background. The applicant can easily expand this section by providing more information about the knowledge she has acquired.
Too Many Highlights
This section has too many highlights. There should be no more than eight bullets in each column, and the writer should consider adding more information about psychology-related highlights. So far, she only lists generic personality traits that virtually any applicant can lay claim to. This makes her indistinguishable from other job-seekers and makes her seem unprofessional.
Irrelevant Job Information
Despite the fact that the applicant does have recent employment experiences, they are not relevant to the job she is seeking. The applicant desires a career in the mental health field, but all of her previous roles were in the service industry. These jobs should not be included, and too many of them can make the applicant seem unqualified. In order to increase this sections effectiveness, the applicant could use volunteer experiences or academic roles (ex: teachers assistant) instead. Remove: Work History Overnight Logistics, Team Trainer 09/2010 to Current Target Columbus, OH
Front Desk Receptionist 06/2009 to 04/2010 Alteration Station Columbus, OH
Softlines Sales Floor 09/2007 to 04/2009 Meijer Columbus, OH
Include an Accomplishments Section
Since this applicant is a recent graduate who desires a job in the psychology field, including an accomplishments section could make up for her lack of experience. An accomplishments section could prove to employers that she is a directed, self-motivated, and ambitious individual. This section would also distinguish her from other applicants who may not be as qualified. Are you tired of trying to write the perfect resume?
