These samples have been reviewed by experts, so feel free to use them as a foundation for your own resumes.
Improper Summary Length
This professional summary is simply too short. It does a poor job at highlighting the applicant’s strengths and work history. It lists only soft skills that anyone can possess, and it lacks concrete qualifications. In order to make this resume stand out, the applicant should expound upon her experience and abilities. She should also add more career-related information to the summary. A summary provides an opportunity to showcase your talents and ambitions, and this particular one does not do that.
Add More Highlights
A highlights/skills section shows employers exactly what you have learned in previous positions. It is one of the most relevant parts of the resume, and many employers will use this section to gauge your level of knowledge. This applicant should add more career-oriented skills that are relevant to the job of product manager. So far, this section relies mainly on personality traits that are possessed by a great number of people. She needs to distinguish herself by listing more specifics.
The work experience section contains a reasonable amount of information, but it does not use bullets. The second and third job experiences are too short, and each job should have at least 5-8 bullets describing responsibilities and achievements. By using bullets, this resume will be far more readable and structured. The right job description also changes the tenses of some of the words. Since the applicant is currently employed at this place of business, she should use present-tense when describing her duties.
Eliminate Unnecessary Content
The second job description as product specialist can be combined with the first. Since it takes place at the same company, she can simply condense two descriptions into one. To do this effectively, she could blend 3-4 significant responsibilities from each role into just one description as a product manager & specialist. This is not required, but can reduce the potential for confusion and save space.
List Only Relevant Work Experience
This applicant does not need to list her experience as a technical support specialist, since it does not relate to the job at hand. It is also outdated since she held the position more than 20 years ago. This job is not needed, and may distract from her expertise in the product management field.
