Resume samples are an essential job search resource. We’ve asked experts to evaluate a pharmacy tech resume sample, list the mistakes and offer solutions. By following the suggested points below, you can avoid making the same errors.
Remove pronouns from the summary
The summary is similar to a sales pitch that explains why you’re the best choice for the job. However, pronouns like I are not necessary. Instead, write sentence fragments. WRONG Summary At this present time I am currently a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician. I have had the opportunity to teach pharmacy students what my job entails as a pharmacy technician. This job includes inputting prescriptions, filling prescriptions, and resolving insurance disputes. My real passion is to teach. I want to help others achieve success. RIGHT Summary Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician with nearly 10 years of experience within a local pharmacy and major drugstore retailer. Reliable, hard-working professional who fulfills duties with accuracy. Excel in resolving insurance disputes. Experience teaching pharmacy students about the profession. Passionate about teaching and helping others succeed.
Format accomplishments section with bullets
The Accomplishments section on a professional resume follows a specific format. Typically, you need a minimum of 3-4 bullet point for every column. Whenever possible also include any quantifiable information. WRONG Accomplishments I was on the Deans List when I attended Delaware Technical Community College I have received many compliments from customers about my great customer service. They have also mentioned that I went above and beyond what my job entitles. RIGHT Accomplishments
Never use paragraphs when describing work experience
The proper layout for the Work section generally includes a list of 5-8 bullets. Each item must start with an action verb. The ideal employment description is a combination of duties, accomplishments and contributions. Make sure you mention your actual job title. WRONG Experience Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician May 2013 to Current Hometown Drugs ? Harrington, Delaware My responsibilities include inputting prescriptions, filing, inventory control, registering and updating patient profiles, filling prescriptions, and resolving insurance disputes. RIGHT Experience Pharmacy Technician May 2013 to Current Hometown Drugs ? Harrington, Delaware
Keep the format consistent
The pharmacy technician resume sample does not list specific work experience on the second job listing. Although the duties performed are the same or similar, mentioning them is still necessary. By doing this, you keep the format consistent throughout the resume. In addition, even if the work performed is the same, it’s recommended that you use different words. WRONG Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician February 2007 to May 2013 Walgreens ? Milford, Delaware Same as current job. RIGHT Pharmacy Technician February 2007 to May 2013 Walgreens ? Milford, Delaware
