Your resume is so important for securing a new job. Not only does it sell your abilities and traits, it acts to establish a first impression with employers. Create a strong summary
The summary is the first section your resume will have. You cannot afford to let the quality of your summary slide. This will result in employers that do not read any further. This resumes summary looks like this: Familiar with commercial and private insurance carriers. Expertise includes verifying insurance coverage and records reviews Customer service-oriented The content of this summary is spot on, but it is not formatted correctly. Your summary should be in the form of a paragraph, instead of several points. It should also be longer than this summary. Even though it takes up a lot of space on the page, it really does not have very much information. You should aim for about four lines, which would include far more details than this summary does.
Be careful of your spacing
The biggest problem this resume suffers from is probably its spacing. Before submitting your resume, always take a final passing glance at it. Imagine what readers will notice before they actually begin reading from the top. Note that this resume has a lot of empty space. Wasted space says a lot about you. It artificially extends your resume and makes it look like you are less qualified than you are trying to appear. Even if the same amount of information is present, the spacing can completely change the way it is received. In addition to that, the formatting determines how easily it is to read. The large gaps in this document are distracting. Note that there is a gap in between each bullet point, as well as a larger gap in between each section. Some sections that should be paragraphs are also formatted as lists, which further spread the information out. All things considered, this resume is exhausting to read and gives a bad impression.
Format your experiences
This resume has an incredibly extensive work history, which is working against it. The entire section is far too long, but even the information under each position is too extensive. Each position should only have five to eight bullet points, while some of these ones have as many as 13 or 15. The work history extends back many years, so some of the older jobs could easily be removed without diminishing the resumes affect. This is an especially long amount of time to cover, so it is okay to stretch the limits of how long the experience section is, but this takes it too far.
Manage the length of your resume
In addition to the experiences section being too long, the resume as a whole is also too long. The biggest reason for this is the experience section, so the strategies discussed above for shortening it will go a long way. The certification information at the end and the spacing throughout the resume also contribute to the problematic length. A resume should typically entirely fit on a single page, but if you are covering more than 10 years of work experience, you can have a two-page resume. If you choose to go this route, make sure the information you have justifies the extra page. If you are able to effectively, still fit it on a single page.
