A strong resume is vital for getting a call for an interview. Make sure you understand what the standards are and know what the best way to represent your skills is. Format your experience section correctly
At the heart of your resume are your work experiences. This is the most important part to format in an organized and efficient manner. Try to imagine what it looks like at a glance. The information should be inviting and not too dense, but there should also be enough of it to give the impression of a long and extensive history. This experience section certainly has enough information, but formatting it as a paragraph essentially turns it into a large block of text that would be difficult for employers to read all the way through. It is typically recommended to include this information as a bulleted list, instead. Additionally, the writer makes the mistake of using personal pronouns, such as I and my. To help you understand what form the content should be in, you can write it with pronouns and then simply cut them out. In addition to the changes noted above, strong action verbs have been added to the beginning of each bullet point. Finally, a couple tense problems were changed. As this is the currently held position, it should be in present tense. All others should be past tense.
Consider an accomplishments section
The summary, highlights, and education information are all exactly how they should appear. If the experience was formatted correctly, there would still be one major problem, however: The resume is too short. You should completely fill one page and leave no area blank or waste any space. Having a filled page gives a good impression when employers glance at your resume. In a situation like this, when each section is already the appropriate length, we recommend finding extra info that you can add in a new section. Listing some accomplishments are one of the most common choices. It would fall between the highlights and the work experience. Just be sure that when including accomplishments, you have strong information to include and at least enough for three bullets. Focus on tangible results that you have achieved. Things like increasing profits or boosting efficiency look excellent on a resume.
If you do not want to add an accomplishments section, or do not have enough information to fill it properly, there are a couple other sections you could choose to add. Usually these choices are limited to certifications or licenses, affiliations, or awards. If this writer had any other qualifications, they could move First Aid certified, Clean D.O.T., and CDL Class A from the highlights section into their own.
