Write a full summary
A full bodied, four to six line summary is typically preferable to a short mission statement. While the concept of a summary does require it to be brief, it can take enough words to express a little more than just a synopsis of your skills. Instead, using paragraph form, a summary can be the one place where some of your personality comes through. This enables the reviewer to associate your summary with a person, rather than another pile of faceless words.
Make a skills or highlights section
Almost every resume you submit in the modern era is going to be electronic. Because of this, you want to make sure your resume has relevant keywords that are likely to make it visible in electronic searches. A skills or highlights section is the best way to accomplish this. Using bulleted lists in a table format, you can summarize some of your individual abilities and accomplishments in very succinct phrases. Use active verbs when describing work history
Since we have used the earlier parts of the resume to drive employers towards the work history, this section needs to carry the document home. Everything else was geared towards getting this section read. The experience listings need to convince a hiring manager to hire or at least interview you. Content is important; you need to provide quality examples of your skills and experience, but format is also important. The presentation needs to be professional and unambiguous. The active verb managed still demonstrates responsibility, but the sentence reads more easily and carries more impact. Resolved suggests that the responsibility of addressing insurance issues was carried successfully.
