Use Proper Capitalization
One of the things you really need to do before completing your resume is to proof read it to catch any type of grammar mistake. For example, proper capitalized is very important in a resume. It makes the resume look more professional and polished. In our resume sample’s summary section, there are a few examples of improper capitalization. Service Technician with 5 years experience. Areas of expertise include Connected/Disconnected NAT/LPG gas services using manometer to check for leaks, troubleshoot and repair NAT/LPG gas appliances, collect on overdue accounts, also knowledgeable in the Transmission and Distribution of NAT/LPG in the installation and repair of gas meters, regulator, POL, tanks and cylinders. In the first couple of sentences, the words technician, connected and disconnected should not be capitalized. The general rule for capitalization is that if a word isn’t a proper noun or starting a sentence, then it shouldn’t start with a capital letter. However, acronyms are a exception to that rule. NAT/LPG, for example, is fine as it is written.
Format the Accomplishments Section Properly
The accomplishments section of a resume is the place for you to show off what you have achieved. It is not for every day job duties and responsibilities. You want to reserve this section to showcase when you have went above and beyond or when you were recognized for doing something superior. In our sample resume, the accomplishments section is really just general job duties and skills. Accomplishments Extensive work experience in NAT/LPG field and repair of residential and commercial appliances, driver delivery with CDL B license, construction field. There isn’t anything in this section that will make the applicant stand out. In this case, the section should be completely removed. In your resume, if you don’t have three or more accomplishments to list, you should also avoid including this section. If you do include the section, make sure to use a bullet list format.
Parallelism In Bullets Under Experience
It is the little things that really polish a resume and make it look it best. One of those things is parallelism in the bullets listing the job duties and responsibilities under the experience section.
