Leave out third person pronouns in summary
Third person pronouns like I and me should generally be left out entirely on your resume. I believe that a willingness to learn and an emphasis on teamwork are essential qualities of successful personnel who serve within the law enforcement community. The word I appears, so we would want to remove that to conform to standard resume guidelines.
Current jobs should be talked about in present tense
This point should really be common sense, but a lot of job applicants make the mistake of writing certain information in the incorrect grammatical tense. If you are discussing a job you currently work at, then you want to make sure that all the points are presented in the present tense. This resume sample states that he currently works as a military police officer for the Army Reserve, but all the points are written in the past tense. This should be corrected as such:
Mix up the verbs you use
Beginning every bullet point within your work history section with an active verb is an excellent way to make a statement more interesting. However, you do not want a list to get boring by using the same word time and time again like the previously mentioned list does. The word Train is used twice, and it would be much better if he used a different verb for one of those points. For example, you could make the list go like this:
Have five to eight bullet points for each job
Some of the jobs listed under Experience only have a couple points while others have up to nine. You want to maintain a certain level of consistency in your resume, and every position you have worked at should have somewhere between five and eight points. Keep resume to one page if you can
Some employers will not care how long your resume is while others may not even consider you if your resume is too long. Generally, you want to get your resume down to a single page if you can. The exception is if you have decades of experience to talk about.
