To begin your resume, you should have a summary and skills highlight sections. Before moving on from the personal information, consider including some of your accomplishments. Keep in mind that it optional, so if you choose to include it, you need to have information that is impressive to fill it. For example, take a look at the third point: Completed hundreds of projects in past 20 plus years, all on time and at or under budget. It is a little broader than it should be, but the concept is just about right. You need to focus on the results of your accomplishments. Here, saving time and money, and working efficiently is the focus. The first two points are significantly weaker because they focus on irrelevant facts or fail to include tangible benefits.
Fill out your experience section
The main problem with this work experience section is that it is too short. It can be a challenge to reach the appropriate length, but it certainly looks bad to employers if you only have one brief position. The writer of this resume clearly only have one significant position that they can list, but this provides a unique benefit. Normally, you should have between five and eight bullets for each position, but you can stretch that rule if you help a particular position for a very long time. The sheet metal superintendent job was held for 20 years, so there should be more information that they can use to stretch it out a bit. Just be sure that you are writing in bullet form, avoid personal pronouns, and start each point with an action verb. Fill the page
You can probably tell by now that the biggest shortcoming of this resume is its short length. When writing, you should always fill all empty space. When looking at a glance, employers do not want to see wasted space. This paints you in a very poor light. There are many techniques that could be used to fix this problem, some of which have been discussed above. Remember that your summary should be at least four lines and your skills should be outlined in two columns of about four points each. These two sections are perfect on this resume. It is the following information that far too brief. As previously discussed, you can add optional sections to fill your resume.
