As a master cosmetologist, you should have your pick of careers. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. You need to use your resume to prove that you are the best of the best. This sample master cosmetologist resume is great building block to make your own.
Use Bullet Lists
With the exception of the professional summary, your entire resume should use bullet lists to showcase your information. While this resume has bullet points in the highlights section, they are used anywhere else. Under the accomplishments section, there is a list, but bullet points aren’t used. Under the experience section, the information is written in complete sentences. Complete sentences aren’t required in a resume. Your potential employers will want your information as easy to read as possible. They receive hundreds of resumes, if not more, and want to get through them as quickly as possible. Here is an example of how the bullet points will clean up the resume. Wrong Accomplishments Expanded client base by 70% through direct referrals. As you can see, the information is easy to read and looks more organized.
The different sections of your resume should have larger, bolded headings and borders. This makes the information easer to separate from each other. This sample resume does a good job of separating the different sections. The only thing that could make it better is to add more white space between the sections. There is one small space between the sections on this sample. Adding 3 or 4 spaced between the sections will make your resume look full and easy to read.
List Your Certifications
As a master cosmetologist, you should have different certifications that allow you to perform different duties. A cosmetologist license should be listed on the resume. On top of the license, you need certifications for other things such as eyelash extensions. Make a Licenses and Certifications section to list everything that you have. This way, the potential employers will know what you can do and what you can’t do before the hiring process begins. You don’t want to waste your time and excitement on interviews when they needs someone who can perform duties that you aren’t licensed to do. You also don’t want to miss out on an amazing job because you didn’t list your certifications and they assumed that you don’t have one. This sample resume does a great job of wording information and providing most of the necessary information that employers need to know. Make sure when you make your resume, you have plenty of white space and you use bullet points in every category except for the professional summary. Of course, don’t forget to list your licenses and certifications in their own section.
