Your resume is likely going to be the only pieces of information employers use to decide whether to call you for an interview. One of the best ways to ensure your customer service resume is up to the standard that is expected of it is to review expert advice and take a look at a lead customer service agent resume sample. Start with a strong summary
Your summary is what kicks your resume off. Be sure to create a strong first impression. This summary makes the mistake of outlining objectives in the summary. Note the wording about seeking challenges and opportunities for professional growth. It may not specifically name this section Objectives, but that is what is being detailed. This used to be considered appropriate, but it is no longer acceptable. Be sure that your summary is outlining your skills, abilities, and experiences, but not your goals. Take a look at the second sentence: Brings knowledge of the Airline Industry and willingness to work a flexible schedule. This is what your summary’s content should look like. It should also be about four lines long, which means this summary is far too short, especially if you consider that only one of the two sentences are appropriate.
Format the highlights section
After your summary, include a highlights or skills section .This highlights section is very well written, but it is a little long. Typically, your skills section should be two columns of three or four bullet points. This resume is a little on the short side overall, so extending the skills section to five bullet in each columns is acceptable. Just understand that this strategy may not work for your resume. Additionally, this section is looking a little lopsided. The two columns can easily be corrected to be the near the same length by moving one of the two-line bullets from the left column to the right. Always be looking out for blank or wasted space that looks bad to employers.
The accomplishments section
This resume chose to include an accomplishments section. This is an optional section that you can add just before your experiences. With a resume this short, it was a good idea to include this section. The accomplishments section should include specific examples of how you benefitted previous employers. This writer nails this aspect, but the section is too short. As a general rule, if you cannot include at least three points of information, it is better not to include the section at all. This writer should come up with at least two other accomplishments to fill this section out.
Manage your experiences
Your experiences section is one of the most important parts of your resume. Make sure that you make it as organized and appealing as possible. If at all possible, your experiences section should outline at least two or three jobs. This resume is only able to include a single job, but note that it was held for 14 years. In a case like this, it should be easy to include far more information about the position than the writer did. Typically, each position has five to eight bullet points, but if you only have a single, longer term job, feel free to extend the information to make it the same length as a conventional experiences section. This section has six points, but some of them, such as Check in baggage are extremely short and do not really tell the employer anything about the writer.
