Make Your Summary Count

Rather than sentence fragments that just blurt out your highlights, sell yourself in that section with a well worded summary of you and your best aspects. For example, this one could be rewritten thusly: Ive spent my career molding myself into the kind of highly-qualified, results-oriented Reading Teacher that your establishment is looking for. I am well-trained in comprehension and decoding strategies, and while I tend to teach according to each students requirements and personal standards, I do recognize the value of utilizing state assessment data to ensure student success. A paragraph rather than sentence fragments all lumped together gives the reader a chance to see how you present yourself in writing, and is more pleasing to the eye.
Careful With the Jargon
While most prospective employers will understand your commonly used abbreviations, its safest to assume theyre clueless. Spell out important bits and then state the abbreviation instead of just QRI, use Qualitative Reading Inventory (QRI). That makes everything very easy for the reader, no thinking involved.
Watch the Grammar and Style Points
Bullet points should always be followed by a period. Check, double-check, and triple-check your grammar to ensure that youre always following style guidelines. This document should sum up who you are as an employee, so it needs to be as close to perfect as possible. Careful to always stay at or above 10 point font for ease of reading. When you list out all of your experience, be sure to check the tenses. If youre currently holding that position, list out your duties and responsibilities in present tense. If its a past job, use past tense. This resume is fairly well-formatted, but the Education section is somewhat lacking. It wouldve been more impressive to kill the individual dates and use the opportunity presented there to highlight some collegiate accomplishments more thoroughly.
Call Out Significant Achievements
Remember that a resume is your first, and maybe your only, opportunity to make an impact. Use an Accomplishments section to bring attention to the best bits of your experience and training. This resume couldve benefited by bringing these items up from the Experience section to a new Accomplishments or Achievements section:
Adding other notable feats, preferably with quantifiable metrics, would help to boost your resume over others as well. The professional qualifications in this resume are well-thought-out and thorough, but some information on what makes the person wouldnt hurt. Volunteer or charity work shows the employer that youve got some capacity outside of work, and that youre well-rounded. Try to add in some human aspects if possible.
