Have a paragraph for your summary
The following statement is the only thing given for this sample resume’s summary: I have 35 years of experience in construction, maintenance and working well with others. First, it is important to keep in mind that you should not use third person pronouns on your resume, so you should get rid of the word, I. Secondly, although you do want your summary to be concise and succinct, it should be longer than a single sentence. Generally, you want to aim for a full paragraph of around four or five sentences. This will keep it brief enough for the reader to get through it quickly while still providing enough ample information to make them interested in your work ethic.
Implement bulleted lists in work history
Although a paragraph should be used for a summary, you want to utilize lists when discussing your work experience. Right now, the information given for every position he has ever had is presented on a single line. Therefore, you would want to break it up, allowing it to look like this:

Start each point with a strong, active verb
As you can see in the list above, one of the bullet points begins with the word, Construction. Typically, you want to start each and every point within your professional experience section with a strong verb that immediately pulls the reader in and makes him or her interested in what you have to say. Instead of having that point begin with Construction, you could rewrite it like this:
Add quantifiable information when possible
Details are your friend when it comes to writing your resume. If you are applying to be a carpenter, a hiring manager will assume you have experience building residences, so in order to set yourself apart from the other candidates you should include specific details that apply to your work experience. For example, instead of saying, Constructed single family residences, you could write, Constructed over 40 single family residences a year. This is so much more detailed and fascinating, and it will make you more memorable in the hiring manager’s mind.
Leave out GPA
Unless you are currently a student, there is no reason to include your GPA on a resume even if it was impressive. This is especially true if it has been a while since you were in school. The reason for excluding your GPA is that it does not really matter, and employers are going to be more interested in the experience you have gained over the years than what your grades were in school. Putting your GPA on a resume only takes up space that could be better utilized elsewhere. However, you could put summa cum laude or magna cum laude if you desire. Employers are used to seeing common mistakes on resumes, so you really want to blow a potential employer away by having one that is free of errors.
