If you are trying to get your foot in the door at a great salon, you want to have a proper resume. Use this hairdresser resume example to land the position that you have been yearning for. Make sure you know what information to use and how to format it, so you can make your resume shine.
Don’t be afraid to sell yourself in the resume summary. A one sentence summary cuts the information down to bare bones. You should add a little more information to allow yourself to shine. For example, start by saying how many hours you have accumulated in beauty school. Mention a cosmetology degree or license, and talk about your passion for hairdressing, makeup, and anything else you particularly love about your job. Sound enthusiastic so the company will be enthusiastic to hire you.
Separate Skills & Highlights
When you mention the word highlights, it sounds like it will be a few things that are worth mentioning above the rest. Having two columns of highlights is too much. You should list the most important points under highlights, and then list the rest under skills. Wrong: HIGHLIGHTS
This resume example lists a great amount of experience. The problem is the way that it’s done. When you’re listing experience that pertains to all of the experience you’ve had, you don’t need to list the same job over and over again. For example, you don’t need to list each job with hair stylist next to it in the resume. It looks better if you make a chronological resume. Also, make sure you use bulleted lists to maximize white space so the employer can see what you have to offer at a quick glance. It’s a waste of time for you and the employer to basically write the same thing over and over again. This gives your resume a clean look. If you had a special position at one location, you can add a career highlights section to highlight that information. When writing a resume, it’s important to make it stand out. Bullet point and white space allow people to glance at your resume and find the information that they want to see instantly. A jumbled resume will frustrate potential employers and possibly cause them to just pass. Use the LiveCareer resume builder to create a resume that will set you apart from everyone else.
