Use the Summary section to sell yourself rather than your work history
A summary section is supposed to summarize why you are such a great candidate for a specific position. The grocery stocker sample resume includes a messy and repetitive summary that only talks about work experience, when it could hold a lot of useful information regarding how the applicant is a perfect fit for the job. Here is an updated example: Summary: Hard working and dependable Grocery Stocker with two years of experience in stocking positions who physically excels at moving heavy equipment with the proper body mechanics to avoid injury. Able to complete tasks in a timely manner, possesses detail oriented skills and takes direction well. Pursuing a position that will appreciate experience in grocery stocking and the ability to work well with others.
Provide a list of bulleted responsibilities within your Experience section
With each position that you hold and list on your resume, a bulleted list of duties and responsibilities should follow. One main purpose of your resume is to give your potential employer a good overview of previous jobs that you have had or currently hold and what you did while you were working for that employer. By providing a list, you are able to accent your achievements and contributions to the company. WRONG: Experience Night Crew Stocking January 2013 to Current Price Rite Supermarket ? Don’t include your GPA unless you recently graduated
Because the author of the Grocery Stocker resume sample doesn’t have any education other than their high school diploma, the applicant was right to include their recent high school graduation date. However, rather than providing an accurate GPA on the resume, the applicant indicated that they were not a great student, but good. While this may mean that the student has an acceptable GPA, it indicates to the employer that the applicant doesn’t want to display their GPA and would continue to assume that it is not good. To get a resume that is a showstopper and will successfully highlight your skills, you need to trust in the advice our resume experts had to offer on the grocery stocker resume sample. QuintCareer’s Resume Builder is there to assist you in getting beyond the resume, which is the first interview.
