Creating a summary
Your summary will introduce your resume. This section is meant to provide a general overview of the information you will be communicating. The summary should cover a variety of aspects, including skills, working experience, how long you have been working in relevant fields, and professional traits. Think about how you can stand out from other applicants by exploring the unique qualities that you will bring to the table. Total, your summary should be four lines long. This means that this sample summary is too short. It should also mention the length of work and include more than just the core skill set that the writer possesses.
Formatting your experiences
The experience section is the most important in your resume. This is the section that will actually sell yourself to readers. For this reason, it is vital that the information you are trying to communicate is completely unhindered. It can be difficult to master, but being able to format this section so it is easy to read and appealing at a glance will make the difference between getting called back for an interview and never hearing anything. Because it is just a block of text, it is difficult to actually get into it. Your experience section should be a bulleted list, with five to eight points for each position that you have held. Start with the most recent and work backwards, starting each bullet with a strong action verb and removing all personal pronouns. All except the current job should be in past tense. The length of your resume is also important. You cannot afford to have blank or wasted space, but you should also not bleed onto a second page. Your goal should be to fill a single page as completely as possible. This resume has far too much empty space at the bottom of the page. This will be partially filled by extending the summary and formatting the experiences as previously discussed, but an optional section may need to be added as well.
