Incorporate Bulleted Lists for Emphasis and Clarity
Bullet points help to separate ideas and emphasize main points. This sample makes good use of bulleted lists in the lists of accomplishments and technical skills, but they should also be used in the experience section. Remember, your prospective employer will be briefly scanning dozens or possibly hundreds of resumes looking for people to interview. Do everything you can to make important points stand out so that your resume won’t get lost in the shuffle. Begin each point with a verb and avoid passive-sounding phrases like involved in and responsible for. Before: 08/1998 -Current Groot Industries ? Use Summary, Highlights and Accomplishments Headings Appropriately
The summary paragraph should provide an overview of who you are, what you have done and what you can do. The accomplishments section, if you are using one, should list quantifiable accomplishments like increased forklift efficiency by 32 percent. If what you have listed is more general, call that section highlights. In this example, the first point in the accomplishments section would fit better as the first sentence of a summary paragraph.
