To get your resume to be in the best format, there are some specific steps you should follow. We have had experts review this Financial Project Manager resume sample to make changes where these best practices could be implemented. Remember these tips so you can write an excellent resume yourself.
All lists should be in bullet point format
Starting each point in your lists with a bullet point will make your resume easier to read. It will have a more professional appearance as well as seem more organized. This goes for duties listed in the job experience section as well. These details should not be in paragraph form. Start each bullet point with a strong action verb, and end with a period. Consistency is key.
If you are talking about a current job, write in present tense, and if previous employment, use past tense
This error has to do with revising for grammar as well, but it happens on its own often enough that it gets its own specific point. Being consistent with tenses is grammatically correct. Doing this will help you to avoid confusing the reader, and a fully correct resume will be more professional. If you are talking about a completed project done during a current job, you can describe that in past tense, as that would be grammatically correct. WRONG: Current University of Texas-Brownsville ? If you use an abbreviation, spell it out
Only if the abbreviation is very commonly known (such as The FBI, or CPR Training), would you not need to spell it out. Any acronym specific to a field or discipline should be explained to the reader.
Do not include a high school diploma or GED unless it is your only education
If you have completed some kind of college or higher education, it is assumed you have these basic qualifications. If you did anything outstanding or were recognized, it could still be included, but in most cases will not be necessary. Want to apply what you learned here in writing your own resume?
