Hunting for a job can be a stressful process, however if you have a resume that is put together well and makes a good first impression, you shouldnt have to worry as much. Looking through some example resumes is a great way to start to build up your resume into something that will be a showstopper. We have expert resume builders that have evaluated an elementary school principal resume and pointed out some common mistakes made and how to avoid them. Take a look at the corrections made to ensure you dont fall into some easily made errors.
Dont be repetitive
There comes a point when mentioning something over again becomes too much. For example, the elementary school principal resume sample that was reviewed had a Work Experience section along with an Experience section. Most of the responsibilities included in the Experience section were already mentioned in the Skills or Work Experience section, and if they hadnt been stated then they should be added to one of the two categories to consolidate and keep the resume from becoming repetitive.
Include a bulleted list in Professional/Work Experience
Your resume could easily be looked over if you dont have all of your work experience mapped out in an organized fashion. In the Work Experience category, all of your responsibilities, contributions, and daily duties should be in a bulleted list rather than lumped up in a paragraph. The elementary school principal applicant that was looked over did just the opposite. Dont let a simple paragraph determine your future. Skills look best in a table format
This section is a great place to included important keywords and phrases for a specific industry. One of the best ways to implement these soft skills and specific tasks is through the use of a table. The reviewed resume had a terrific bulleted list in the Skills section, but it would be much better off in a table.
Include dates of employment in Professional Experience
On top of including the name of your current and past employers and locations, it is imperative to pack your resume with employment dates as well. This gives a hiring manager the chance to be able to see what and where you have been for the past 10-15 years and how long you stayed in each position. It also gives a clear view of how much experience you have under certain job titles. The elementary school principal position had both the name of past employers and locations, but left out the dates of employment. This is such an easy fix and gives a potential employer more insight on your work history. Making a successful elementary school principal resume is not only possible, but it is easy.
