It is okay to use sentence fragments within summary
Although good grammar is important and should be utilized all the time, there are certain points in your resume where you can be a little more lax. Whenever you are writing the summary of your resume, you should not feel the need to make every sentence complete. It is completely acceptable to write using sentence fragments, so you are able to get to the point of the statement sooner. This sample has four sentences given for the summary, which is good, but they could be shortened down to go more like this: Dedicated and focused team player, results-oriented with excellent organization, communication and relationship-building skills. Adept at managing multiple projects with ease using expert time management methods. Mature leader who excels at prioritizing, completing multiple tasks simultaneously and following through to achieve project goals. Seeking a role of increased responsibility and authority.
Do not say you are looking for new work
The summary on this sample ends with a sentence about how she is looking for a role of increased responsibility. Although that is most likely true, it is unnecessary to put it on a resume. The reason for this is that a hiring manager already knows you are looking for a specific type of job through the fact that you submitted your resume to this company in the first place. It takes up space and is redundant. In this case, that sentence should be removed and replaced with something more relevant.
Do not talk about general responsibilities under Accomplishments
Not every resume needs to have a section titled Accomplishments, but it is a good way to draw attention to things you have achieved that not everyone else can say. You want all the points in this portion to actually be noteworthy, and you should not waste space talking about aspects of your past work that were just your normal duties. For example, this sample resume has the following points as accomplishments:
These do not sound particularly notable, and unless she could include some details of what made these responsibilities truly remarkable, they should be moved down under Experience.
Use present tense for current workplaces
If you are currently working somewhere, then you would want to talk about the duties you have at that job in the present tense. Likewise, the past tense should be utilized for jobs you no longer have. Although she presently works at EMD Millipore Corporation, many of the points begin with verbs the end with ed. This needs to be fixed to make it clear that she is still doing all of these tasks, and we could rewrite some of them, so they go like this:
