Pull in the Hiring Manager
You need to start your resume with an amazing professional summary. The purpose of the summary is to tell the hiring manager why you would be the best asset for the job. Your summary needs to make the potential employer want to keep reading instead of throwing your resume to the side. This professional summary is nearly perfect. It tells the hiring manager that the applicant has vast experience and knowledge in the nursing field. The only thing that would make it better is to change the introduction to it. Instead of: Upcoming nursing PhD. Master of Science in Nursing Education. Over 20 years of health care experience. Expertise in teaching…. Write: Highly-experienced nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing Education, and more than 20 years of experience. Currently working on nursing PhD while demonstrating expertise in teaching… These couple small changes give the applicant a title in the very first sentence, and the sentences flow together nicely.
Dont Forget the Skills
One element of every outstanding resume is the skills section. Just about every resume that the hiring manager receives will have a skills section, so you dont want to forget yours. This is a section where you make a list of your top skills so the hiring manager knows what youre capable of. Your skills should be listed right after your professional summary. Make sure that you list skills that pertain to the job you are applying for, and general skills for working with other people in a professional environment. Here is an example: Skills
