If you are applying to be a concierge, you want a stand-out resume to give to potential employers. You can use this sample resume as an idea of how your resume should look. Here are some great things about this sample concierge resume, and some things that you should consider changing for yours.
Dont Change Colors
The first thing you probably noticed about this resume is the colors. The first word of the summary is gray and then the rest of the summary is black. After the summary, the rest of the resume is gray again. It couldve just been an accident while making the resume, but it definitely looks odd and distracting. Make sure your entire resume is done in black text.
List Your Skills
Like this sample resume, make sure that you list your skills after the summary. The skills listed in the resume could be a little better. For example, instead of writing concierge duties list a couple of specific duties that some people might not be exceptional at doing. It shows that you know the job well when you are being more specific. You also want to make sure that your skills are listed with bullet points. Here is a good example of what you could do for your skills section. Wrong HIGHLIGHTS Front desk training Concierge duties Communicates effectively Event planning Listening skills Hospitality expertise VIP services Exceptional multi-tasker Right HIGHLIGHTS
Accomplishments Help You Shine
The accomplishments section on this example resume is fantastic. Making one for your resume will show your potential employer how you stood out from the other employees. However, having a section titled accomplishments and a section titled highlights could be confusing. This is because the accomplishments should be something that you would consider a highlight. If you add an accomplishments section, you still need a section with skills, it would just do your resume more justice to title it skills instead.
Properly Format Experience
The experience section is usually the largest, which can easily make the resume difficult to read if its not formatted properly. In this example resume, the entire resume is centered. The headings looks great because they are much larger than the rest of the text, bolded, and have a border. It gives the resume clear sections beginnings and ends. The headers look great centered, but the rest of the resume looks slightly jumbled. The main issue is in the experience section. The first job runs into the section heading, and then the rest of the jobs all seem to run together. The resume would look better with the job titles left aligned, and a space between each job. The first job also has the employer dates formatted slightly different, which makes the resume look off balance. Here is an example of how it will look. Wrong EXPERIENCE Concierge/Trainer, 01/2012 to Current Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort ? Orlando, Fl
01/2009 to Current Walt Disney World Resort ? Orlando, Florida 01/2009 to 01/2012 Disney’s Magic Kingdom Right EXPERIENCE Concierge/Trainer 01/2012 to Current Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort Orlando, Fl
Also, at the bottom of the first block of experience, it says Disney Resort and Magic Kingdom. There are two different dates before it goes on with a job description, which is very confusing. Make sure all of your experience is clear. Although it needs a few little fixes, this concierge resume is a great start. It gives you plenty of great ideas for building your own resume at LiveCareer.
