Your resume is basically your calling card when you are applying for new jobs. It is going to be a huge influence on a potential employer who is going to need to decide whether to call you in for an interview based on a single sheet of paper. Balance bullet points within Highlights section
It is perfectly acceptable to divide your Highlights or Skills section into two columns in order to provide more information within the same amount of space. However, in the interest of creating a nice-looking resume, you should try to make the columns as balanced as possible by giving each one the same amount of points. This may not always work, but this sample resume has one column with six points and the other one has three points. You could redistribute some of them to give one column five points and the other four points. This will make your resume look more attractive, which does a lot more than you might realize.
Have at least three points within an Accomplishments section
Having a section titled Accomplishments is optional, but it is a great way to draw attention to certain achievements you have done throughout your professional career. If you are going to add this portion, then you want to make sure it is justified. That generally means having a minimum of three accomplishments to talk about. This resume sample only has two within the section, so he would either want to add one more or move those two points within his Experience section.
Write out numbers less than 10 and use numerals for numbers 10 or greater
This is a small grammatical error to fix, but you should write out numbers that are nine or less. Take a look at the two points given for the portion titled Accomplishments:
Instead of saying, 2 general construction laborers, it should be two general construction laborers. Similarly, he should not be writing out Completed ten projects. It should be rewritten to be: Completed 10 projects.
Add bullet points for your work experiences
There is a certain format employers expect to see within your Experience section, and it involves bulleted lists. This sample resume gives each statement its own line, and it is even double-spaced. However, in order to make it clear when a new point begins and to conserve space, we would just want to add bullet points, which is easy enough to do within Microsoft Word.
Use present tense for present jobs
There is only one job given on this resume sample, and it says that he currently works there. However, all the points are written in the past tense. This is incorrect, and to make this section better, we would want to rewrite all of the points, so they are in the present tense. If we were to redo this portion, then all of the points would look like this:
