As a caregiver personal assistant, you want an amazing resume so that way you can land the job of your dreams. Using a sample resume to build your own, will help you figure out what information you should keep and which information you shouldnt keep. Here are some tips about what you should change when you make your own resume.
Start With a Great Summary
Your professional summary is the most important part of your resume. When your potential employers read your professional summary, that is when they decide if your resume is worth finishing. The professional summary should be 3-5 sentences that summarize your resume. The first sentence should be your occupation title and your years of experience. There should also be no bullet points, or in the case of the sample resume, asterisks, in the summary. The summary should also be tailored to the job that you are applying to. Dont have different parts of a professional summary for different positions. Your entire resume should pertain to the job your are applying for. If you are applying for different positions with multiple employers, make sure you have different resumes for each one. Here is an example of how the professional summary would look better. Wrong PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY *Highly organized and detail oriented. More than ten years experience supplying thorough, organized administrative support to 3 to 12 physicians at any given time. * Admin Assistant who continually maintains a positive attitude while interacting with demanding clients. Serves as the primary point of contact for both in-house and external phone and website queries. *Office assistant with multiple years of experience in coordinating schedules, physicians, patients and procedures in a busy medical setting. Right PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Highly organized Caregiver/ Personal Assistant with 19 years of experience. Continually maintains a positive attitude while interacting with demanding clients. Serves as the primary point of contact for both in-house and external phone and website queries. Works well under pressure and is always a team player.
Dont Overload Your Resume
Your resume shouldnt be more than two pages long. You also dont want to overload your resume with one category. The work history in this sample resume takes up most of the resume and would likely be more than two pages of information. You dont need to list every single thing you did at your previous jobs. You just need to give your potential employers an idea of what you did and what you can do. Here is how the sample resume could cut back on employment history without decreasing the value of your resume. Before WORK HISTORY Staff Nurse (RN) ——> House Supervisor, 09/2001 to 07/2007 Holy Family manor Bethlehem, PA
After WORK HISTORY Staff Nurse (RN) ——> House Supervisor, 09/2001 to 07/2007 Holy Family manor Bethlehem, PA
This makes the work history much more manageable, and nothing crucial is left out. Other than these couple small details, this is a great resume. Make sure you have different resumes for different employers so they arent generalized. You can use this to make your own fantastic resume on LiveCareer.
