Resumes are the first line of offense when it comes to hunting down your dream job. Without a resume that suitably represents your qualifications and abilities, you can easily be passed over by an employer having to look through stacks of resumes. When it comes to showing yourself off as the best administrative assistant for the job, make use of this banking management administrative assistant resume sample to give you quick tips on how to do so.
Say yes to bullet points
Every section that involves a list should make use of bullet points to separate important details. Bullet points help divide out the information that you have to show, making it more accessible and easy to read. WRONG: Top Performer on Referrals. Highest in Customer Net Advocacy Rating for two consecutive Quarters. RIGHT:
It’s easy to gloss over full sentences and search for information with brevity, and bullet points signify places where an employer’s eyes need to pause and take note.
Including high school education is unnecessary
Unless you don’t have any other education and if you have very little work experience, you don’t need to include that you graduated from high school. Employers are not looking to see that you graduated from high school, and are more interested in observing whether or not you took higher education and, if you did, what sort of activities you involved yourself in while there. WRONG: High School Diploma 2004 Bell High School RIGHT: General Education East LA College
The list of education was also not in chronological order. If you do have more than one university or institute to list, make sure that you are putting your most recent attendance first and older experiences last.
Make sure you’re following through on your grammar
Resumes need to be especially careful about how they are conveying themselves through their choice of vocabulary and their correct or incorrect use of grammar. When you are listing various skill sets or abilities, make sure they are all properly written WRONG:
Not only did this resume not appropriately use bullet points to separate out highlights, it also mixed verbs and adjectives in such a way as to make the language confusing. This will stand out negatively to potential employers, and you need to make sure everything flows cleanly and well.
Use the right order
This resume does an excellent job of highlighting important capabilities of the author, but it does not follow the standard format for the ideal resume. Instead of including a set of sections in this order: Summary, Accomplishments, Skills, Highlights, the resume instead has Summary, Highlights, and Accomplishments. Not having your sections in proper order may obscure your true qualifications from a potential employer. Now it’s your turn to get out there and craft the perfect administrative assistant resume for yourself. Get the right help to get the right job by using QuintCareer’s Resume Builder.
