You should keep in mind that a hiring manager probably will not read every piece of information on your resume. Therefore, you want to make sure that the key parts of your resume will be seen. This is best accomplished by streamlining the information that you share in your resume. Bullets help tremendously in such efforts. However, you must also format your bullets correctly. You should be sure to include information in the correct sections as well. For instance, the accomplishments section of the sample resume contains some information that appears to be more related to skills, such as creative problem solving, while other pieces of information are true special achievements. You should review your sections and ensure that you have the information in them properly categorized. Including things in the wrong section could come off as you trying to fill up the sections, which could lead to key information being overlooked.
Emphasize Experience with Bullets
The experience section tends to be the largest section and contains the most critical information. Considering this, you want to make sure that this portion of your resume is clear and easy to understand. Bullets help to not only organize your thoughts, but also appear less cluttered, making the reader more prone to catch key pieces of information, even while skimming. RIGHT:
You do not want to give more information than what is needed. If you would like to highlight certain education, you can do so in the accomplishment section rather than the education section, which should be dedicated to briefly listing relevant education to the job at hand. Also, years are not necessary and could bring into question how familiar you are with the most current concepts and teachings if the education was achieved several years ago, especially ten or more. In the resume sample you can see where the individual took courses to update their experience. This helps to validate the extended period of time since gaining their degree. However, since the courses were listed in the experience section, they do not need to be included in the education portion as well.
