Community Involvement and Extracurricular Activities
Being involved in your community and volunteering your time for worthy causes is an attribute many colleges value in applicants.
In some situations, when talking with high school students, community service seems less of something you want to do to give back to the community than it does a necessary activitiy to either graduate high school or get into college.
The premise of being involved in your community is not that it is something you have to do — but something you want to do. Volunteering shows that you are aware of a much broader community beyond your little world.
Your Goal? Get involved with some organization related to your course or career goals. Find your passion — is it helping people, animals, the environment? Choose one or two organizations and volunteer your time and expertise to the best of your abilities.
