The chronological resume format allows you to profile your work history in chronological order, beginning with your most recent or current job. This resume format is the one that most hiring managers and recruiters expect to see so you can rarely go wrong with it -- even though it does draw a bit more attention to your work history than the functional resume format.
The functional resume format allows you to profile your skills and summary of qualifications at the very top of your resume. This format places your limited work history at the bottom of your resume -- so that the recruiters or hiring managers reading your resume stand a better chance of being impressed right off the bat by all the skills and qualifications you can bring to the job.
