Whether this is true or not is often a matter of debate, but research shows that 52 percent of people who apply to a job are underqualified. In addition, research also shows that 47 percent of companies report few or no qualified applicants for the positions they are trying to fill, so many recruiters believe that the "perfect" candidates are already employed and must be valuable to their employer if they are contentedly doing their job.
Glassdoor recommends that recruiters move beyond LinkedIn to find passive candidates on other platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram. Since 85 percent of employed people worldwide are open to switching jobs and only 18 percent of businesses are increasing their focus on passive candidates, more employees who are not actively seeking new jobs might soon be contacted by recruiters looking for qualified candidates in a tight labor market.
