The hiring process is often prescribed by the hiring organization’s ATS, which automatically creates a sequence of tasks for the recruiter, HR, and the hiring team for every candidate being interviewed. The option completed may simply be setting on the ATS entry that needs to be filled out to indicate all tasks relating to your interview have been completed, which in turn may serve no greater purpose than satisfying organizational protocol, or avoid annoying error messages from the ATS.
If it’s been more than a few weeks after the interview and you haven't heard back, it is worthwhile to contact the recruiter, reaffirm your interest in the role, and ask whether there are any updates to your status as a candidate. It is customary for candidates having advanced to the second round to be notified of a decision whether to continue with your candidacy. Get your answer from a human, not a machine.
