In today's work environment, things feel more casual, with shared workspaces and group happy hours. Dating coworkers feels more normal and accepted. And, at first, a relationship may seem like a good idea. But, isn't that always the way a relationship begins?
Unfortunately, if the relationship ends badly, it can be a huge detriment to your career. What will you do if you have to face your ex every day in work meetings? What if they are unprofessional and share information about you that you'd rather keep to yourself?
If you want to date someone you work with, decide if the relationship is important enough for you to switch jobs. And, if that's the case, consider switching to a new organization first.
I know, this sounds dramatic. But, truly, dating your coworkers is a huge career sin that you should avoid at all costs. If you value your career, do your very best to avoid becoming romantically involved with anyone you are currently working with.
