One of the biggest mistakes you can make during an interview is to show up late. It sounds simple, I know. But, there is no faster way to lose a job interview than to be late. If you are late for a job interview, you will immediately lose the respect of the hiring manager and the company. Your chances of being hired will diminish if you show up late.
So, what can you do? Well, the day before, you should go to the building where the job interview will be held. This way, you'll know where you're going, and you'll know how long it takes you to get there.
On the day of the interview, go early. Give yourself extra time in case anything goes wrong. This way, if you're stuck in traffic, or if anything else unexpected comes up, you'll still be there on time.
When you arrive early, you may want to sit outside in your car until a few minutes before. When it's time for your interview, go into the building about fifteen minutes before. This way, the front desk will have time to sign you in. They will typically then call someone to come and get you. That person will likely walk you to the interview room. The process can take time, and you want to be comfortably in place before the interview begins.
