Review the job description carefully and pay special attention to both the hard and soft skills that are required. Some hard skills may be highly specialized and outside your area of expertise, but don’t let that deter you from applying if you have most of the other skills. Look carefully at how the required skills apply to the job duties.
You will want your resume to map your skills to the kinds of business or organizational outcomes in the job description. Make sure the most important skills and accomplishments appear near the top. Always include any licenses or certifications you have that are listed as required in the job description.
