There may be times in life when you need a paycheck more than anything else, and that will dictate what job is right for you. When you’re back on your feet and have hit your stride, the right job for you will be very different.
But in general, the right job for you matches (1) your source of motivation, that is, whether you are more internally or externally motivated, (2) your personality, which is a set of characteristics that remains stable over time, and (3) your level of intelligence, which relates to your aptitude for learning. All of this presupposes that your job pays enough, working conditions are acceptable, and you are a reasonably good fit for the work environment.
And remember, the right job for you now might also be the one that creates opportunities, and puts you in a position to catch a break to get the job you really want.
