Very often the time spent in the interview can serve as an indicator of how it went. Interviews vary in type, format
, and style
depending on the industry, the position, the company, and the hiring manager's schedule. But ultimately the interview is the part where you create the first attempt at developing a relationship with your future boss. You may be interviewed by one or several people and that could affect the amount of time you need to allocate for your interview. Very often employers let you know in advance if your interview would take longer than the average interview. It's safe to say that the average length of an interview in person is between 30 and 45 minutes. If you get a shorter interview, it is possible that you were well recommended for the position and upper management just wanted to get to know you before hiring you. If on the other hand, if you get a longer interview, the hiring manager may have had some concerns about your fit in the position, or may not be sure of what they are looking for.
